    INTERACTIVE TRAINING COURSE AT VYTAUTAS MAGNUS UNIVERSITY

    On January 21, 2021, an interactive on-line training session was organised at Vytautas Magnus University. The course was joined by 32 participants from the centres of Lithuanian (Baltic) studies abroad as well as scholarly and academic institutions of Lithuania. The training session lasted 6 academic hours and offered three lectures. During the first lecture, Dr. Teresė Ringailienė presented “Learn and Speak Lithuanian”, her new manual for the learners of the Lithuanian language. Assoc. Prof. Ingė Lukšaitė, Prof. Dr. Rūta Petrauskaitė, Lina Bloveščiūnienė and Nijolė Kolesinskienė offered a lecture on the database “Lituanistika” (LDB), an international research database providing bibliographic records, abstracts and full-text documents about the past and present of the Lithuanian state, society, culture, nation and language. The third lecture delivered by Assoc. Prof. Tomas Pabedinskas was on the Lithuanian photography.

    Job heading: Lithuanian language and literature

    The professor will mostly teach students at all levels of the INALCO’s Lithuanian programs (university certificates, Bachelor, Master). His/Her courses will cover theoretical and practical elements of Lithuanian language (phonetics, phonology, morphology,lexicology, syntax, translation, etc).

    The person will be the pedagogical director of the Lithuanian programs and will need to perform the relevant administrative tasks (creation of program curricula, course coordination, course/teacher scheduling, creation of informational documents concerning the courses, student advising, etc).

    The successful candidate will also have to contribute to the creation of new pedagogical tools for the teaching of contemporary Lithuanian. These tools could be digital. Consequently, knowledge about education technologies would be advantageous.

    The professor could perform some of his/her teaching duties in interdisciplinary linguistics seminars organized by the Department of Europe. These seminars could cover methodology for Master students, or general linguistics.

    The successful candidate will act as a research advisor for Master and PhD students and help in increasing the national and international visibility of the INALCO’s Lithuanian Studies program, the only such program in France and one of the few in Europe.

    13th international congress of Baltistics “Baltic Languages in Time and Space”

    University of Latvia invites you to participate in the 13th international congress of Baltistics “Baltic Languages in Time and Space” taking place October 13–16, 2021 (with an excursion or other cultural event planned on October 16) at the University of Latvia (Raiņa bulvāris 19, Rīga, Latvia). In case of an unfavourable epidemiological situation, the congress may be held online. 

    The main topics of the congress will include: Indo-European studies; language norms; terminology, standardisation; sociolinguistics; phonetics of standard languages, phonology; regional studies, areal linguistics, dialectology; onomastics; early texts; grammar; language technology; lexicology, lexicography; language contacts; translation studies; Livonian language; language learning. 

    Working languages: Latvian, Lithuanian, English, German, Russian.  

    Length of presentations: invited speakers – 40 minutes; other speakers – 20 minutes. 

    Participation fee: before September 1, 2021 – 80 €, after September 1, 2021 – 100 €.

    LITHUANIAN LANGUAGE WINTER COURSE AT VILNIUS UNIVERSITY

    From January 8 to 19, the Lithuanian Language Winter Course with 26 participants from 13 different countries is held at Vilnius University.  The students are offered a possibility to study not only the Lithuanian language but also get acquainted with its culture. The course is organized within the framework of the project “Lithuanian Academic Scheme for International Cooperation in Baltic Studies”.

    A NEW COOPERATION AGREEMENT SIGNED WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF BERN

    On 9 December 2020, a cooperation agreement was signed with the re-established Centre of Baltic and Lithuanian Studies at the University of Bern. The centre joined the activities of the project “Lithuanian Academic Scheme for International Cooperation in Baltic Studies”. In Bern, the Lithuanian language is taught by Dr Diego Ardoino.

    LITHUANIAN STUDIES AT VILNIUS UNIVERSITY, SPRING SEMESTER 2021

    The call for Lithuanian studies in the spring semester at Vilnius University is now open. The course starts on 1 February 2020 and ends on 28 May 2020. Participating students are exempted from the tuition fee; they will also have their travelling expenses covered and will receive a scholarship on a monthly basis (February, March, April, May – 532 Eur / month).
