    DR EWA STRYCZYŃSKA-HODYL VISITING VYTAUTAS MAGNUS UNIVERSITY

    On 20-29 June, Dr Ewa Stryczyńska-Hodyl from the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań visited Vytautas Magnus University and the Institute of Lithuanian Literature and Folklore. During her visit, Dr Ewa Stryczyńska-Hodyl met Dr Jurgita Macijauskaitė-Bonda, the head of the project at Vytautas Magnus University, worked at Maironis Museum and consulted with specialists of Lithuanian literature Reda Rėklytė and Dr Virginija Paplauskienė. At the Institute of Lithuanian Literature and Folklore she consulted with Virginijus Gasiliūnas, Bronė Stundžienė, and Jolita Dimbelytė-Mchichou.

    LECTURER RAMUTĖ BINGELIENĖ FROM VILNIUS UNIVERSITY VISITING GOETHE UNIVERSITY FRANKFURT

    On 3-10 June, lecturer Ramutė Bingelienė from the Institute of Applied Linguistics at Vilnius University was visiting Goethe University Frankfurt, where she gave lectures and seminars on the development of the pragmatic competencies in the usage of the Lithuanian language.

    ASSOC PROF. DR. JURGA BIKELIENĖ’S VISIT TO THE CENTRE FOR BALTIC STUDIES OF YURIY FEDKOVYCH CHERNIVTSI NATIONAL UNIVERSITY

    On the 6th–12th of June 2018, Assoc Prof. Dr. Jurga Bikelienė from the Department of Lithuanian Linguistics and Didactics of the Faculty of Education in Humanities of Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences visited the Centre for Baltic Studies of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University. During the visit, Assoc Prof. Dr. Jurga Bikelienė delivered lectures and seminars about the Lithuanian language, history of the Lithuanian language and participated at various events and meetings at the University.

    PROF. SANITA LAZDIŅA FROM REZEKNE ACADEMY OF TECHNOLOGIES VISITING VYTAUTAS MAGNUS UNIVERSITY

    On 26 May – 4 June, Prof. Dr. Sanita Lazdiņa from the Faculty of Education, Languages and Design at Rezekne Academy of Technologies was visiting Lithuania. During her stay at Vytautas Magnus University and Vilnius University, the professor met with colleagues (Prof. Dr. Ineta Dabašinskienė, Prof. Dr. Meilute Ramonienė, and other) and worked in libraries in Vilnius and Kaunas where she collected material for her article on language teaching in Latvia in the context of the Baltic countries.

     

    REPRESENTATIVES’ FROM LITHUANIAN UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATIONAL SCIENCES VISIT TO THE CENTRE FOR BALTIC STUDIES OF ABAI KAZAKH NATIONAL PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY

    On the 2nd–8th of June 2018, Vilma Leonavičienė and Sofija Pivoriūnienė from Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences visited Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University. They delivered a series of lectures "Cultural and Historical Context of the Lithuanian Language" and seminars on the Lithuanian language to the beginners and advanced students. Vilma Leonavičienė and Sofija Pivoriūnienė met with the members of the University faculty.   

    2ND INTERNATIONAL PRANAS SKARDŽIUS CONFERENCE “NATION AND IDENTITY IN LANGUAGE”

    On the 25th–27th of May 2018, the 2nd International Conference “Nation and Identity in Language” took place in Nida. The conference was dedicated to commemorate 120th anniversary of Pranas Skardžius’s birth and the centennial of the Restored State of Lithuania. The conference was organised by the Department of Lithuanian Language of the Institute of Applied Linguistics at Vilnius University. The conference participants represented foreign centres for Baltic and Lithuanian studies in Austria, Estonia, Finland, Georgia, Germany, Poland as well as Lithuanian universities and other institutions.

    The participants of the conference discussed the following topics: the notion of nation and identity, its development and reflection in language; expression of national values and national diversity in culture, customs and language; national values and dialect; quest for identity at different stages of language development; manifestations of national identity in old writings.

    LITHUANIAN STUDIES AT VILNIUS UNIVERSITY

    In the spring semester of the academic year 2017-2018, 30 students completed the programme of Lithuanian studies offered by the Department of Lithuanian Studies of the Faculty of Humanities at Vilnius University. Ten of these students were participants of the project “Lithuanian Academic Scheme for International Cooperation in Baltic Studies” (No. 09.3.1-ESFA-V-709-01-0002). Students attended 4 or 6 academic-hour lectures every day, took the midterm exam, all successfully passed the final exam at the end of May, and participated in the celebration where they were handed certificates.

    STUDENTS FROM THE CENTRES FOR BALTIC STUDIES SUCCESSFULLY FINISHED SPRING TERM STUDIES AT LITHUANIAN UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATIONAL SCIENCES

    Within a period of four months, i.e. from the 1st of February to the 31st of May 2018, 23 students from the Centres for Baltic Studies studied at the Faculty of Education in Humanities of Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences. The students arrived from the Centres for Baltic Studies of Georgian Technical University, Wroclaw and Warsaw Universities in Poland, Kazakhstan Abay National Pedagogical University, Baltic Federal I. Kant University, Ukraine Černovy National Jurij Fedkovič Pedagogical University. During the spring term, the students attended lectures, courses, and successfully finished studies in Lithuanian Philology. Some students completed an internship.

    DR. VAIDAS ŠEFERIS’S FROM THE CENTRE FOR BALTIC STUDIES OF BRNO MASARYK UNIVERSITY VISIT TO LITHUANIA

    From the 30th of April to the 5th of May 2018, Dr. Vaidas Šeferis from the Centre for Baltic Studies Brno Masaryk University visited Lithuania. During his short-term visit, the guest had consultations with representatives of different Lithuanian universities and researchers from other institutions concerning various questions related to Lithuanian studies. Dr. Vaidas Šeferis worked in libraries and archives.
