    LITHUANIAN STUDIES AT VYTAUTAS MAGNUS UNIVERSITY, SPRING SEMESTER 2023

    The call for Lithuanian studies in the spring semester at Vytautas Magnus University is now open. The course starts on 1 February and ends on 31 May 2023. Participating students are exempted from the tuition fee; they will also have their travelling expenses covered and will receive a scholarship on a monthly basis.

Participating students are exempted from the tuition fee; they will also have their travelling expenses covered and will receive a scholarship on a monthly basis.

    The 15th Conference on Baltic Studies in Europe

    Vytautas Magnus University, in cooperation with the Association for the Advancement of Baltic Studies (AABS), is pleased to announce the 15th Conference on Baltic Studies in Europe (CBSE) “Turning Points: Values and Conflicting Futures in the Baltics,” which will be held on 15-17 June 2023 in Kaunas, Lithuania.

    We invite you to submit the proposals for individual papers, thematic panels, roundtable discussions, and book presentations here until December 30th, 2022.

    Assoc. Prof. Dr. Igor Korolyov from Taras Shevchenko National University visiting Vytautas Magnus University

    On 11-22 September 2022, Igor Korolyov, associate professor at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, visited Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas and Vilnius. In Kaunas, he visited the Faculty of Humanities, met with the head of the project at VMU Jurgita Macijauskaitė-Bonda and students of Kyiv National Taras Shevchenko University who were currently enrolled in the Lithuanian Studies Semester at VMU. He also visited the Department of International Studies, discussed Lithuanian Studies-related activities and challenges during the difficult wartime period and mobility opportunities. The visit also included a visit to the Leonid Donsky Library of the VMU.

    In Vilnius, visits were made to the VMU Academy of Education and the Vilnius University Library, where materials for teaching Lithuanian and research were collected. The Ukrainian Cultural Centre of VMU was also visited to discuss the Lithuanian language course for refugees from Ukraine.

    11th SUMMER SCHOOL OF LITHUANIAN STUDIES AT THE HUMBOLDT UNIVERSITY OF BERLIN

    On 22 August – 2 September 2022, the 11th summer school of Lithuanian studies was organized by the Humboldt University of Berlin and Vilnius University. The summer school gathered students and graduates of Indo-European philology and other study fields related to the Lithuanian Language from different universities in Germany. This summer school gave students a possibility to study the Lithuanian language and also learn about Lithuanian customs and traditions.

    LITHUANIAN LANGUAGE AND CULTURE SUMMER COURSE AT VYTAUTAS MAGNUS UNIVERSITY

    On site and online Lithuanian Language and culture summer course at Vytautas Magnus University is taking place in Kaunas on 18 July – 12 August 2002. This year, 31 students from Czech Republic, India, Poland, Latvia, France, Georgia, Finland, and Ukraine study Lithuanian language and participate in various workshops, exhibitions, excursions, and other cultural events. All students are participants of the project “Lithuanian Academic Scheme for International Cooperation in Baltic Studies” (No. 09.3.1-ESFA-V-709-01-0002).

    TEACHER TRAINING COURSE IN ŠILUTĖ

    On June 2-9, the teacher training course “Lithuanian Horizons: Achievements and the Newest Research into Language, Culture, Art, History, and Social Studies - 3” took place in Šilutė. The course gathered teachers from different centres of Lithuanian (Baltic) studies abroad, namely, Austria, Czech Republic, Estonia, India, the USA, Latvia, Poland, Georgia, Finland, Germany, and Hungary, and teachers working with students learning Lithuanian as a foreign language at Vilnius University.

Participating students are exempted from the tuition fee; they will also have their travelling expenses covered and will receive a scholarship on a monthly basis.
